Game Boy Red here.

In this blog and video, I'm going to show you how to set up the autopilot to follow a very basic flight plan in Concorde and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

Now, this can aircraft be very intimidating for a lot of people. I am not a pilot but I've managed to work it out and I want to spread this knowledge with you guys.

The goal by the end of this video is to get you all to follow a flight plan from A to B in Concorde by activating the autopilot.

If you follow all of the steps it's going to be so easy, I promise you.

  • Firstly, what you need to do is load up your Microsoft Flight Simulator and load into your Concorde. And from there, you want to go down to your MCDU or your flight computer.
  • Look for the button that called Direct and is labelled DIR and click on this.
  • This will open up a new page on your screen. You will say that on the top left of the screen it will say WAYPOINT. We will need to put into here our destination airport code. You can get these from google for example type into google “Edinburgh airport code” and you will get the 4 digit code for Glasgow airport EGPH.
  • Input this code EGPH into your MCDU and you will see this on the MCDU screen at the bottom left under the WAYPOINT.
  • Once you have done that hot the button on the top left next to where it says WAYPOINT on the screen and your airport code will appear next to the WAYPOINT like this [EGPH].
  • Next look at the bottom right if your MCDU screen and where it says DIRECT R6 click on the button to the right of this.
  • This will then take you to a new screen titled “FROM USER”.
  • Next step is to look at the bottom left of the screen where it says L6 DEST: EGPH and click on the button to the left of this.
  • A new screen will open titled LAT REV FROM EGPH.
  • Then click on the button to the left of where it says L1 ARRIVAL.
  • A new screen opens titles ARRIVAL TO EGPH.
  • This screen allows you to choose which runway you would like to autopilot to head to.
  • There are 2 options L4 ILS 06 or L5 ILS 24. Select either of these using the button to the left.
  • This is building the flight plan from our departure airport to Edinburgh Airport and will line us up with which ever runway that we choose.
  • Once you have chosen your runway you will be sent to a new screen titles ARRIVAL TO EGPH.
  • You will see your chosen runway at the top left of the MCDU screen.
  • Next look at the bottom right of the screen where it says INSERT TMPY R6 and click the button to the right of this.

That is it, you have just built a very basic flight plan in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on the Concorde.

The plane will now follow this flight plane once you initiate the auto pilot after take-off.

For further tips watch the video which will demonstrate this to you and show you taking off and initiating the autopilot.
